Privacy Policy for Photos Widget
Last updated: February 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes the policies and procedures of Athanasso (referred to as "We",
"Us", "Our", or "Developer") regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Your information when You use
the Photos Widget mobile application (the "Service", or "App").
Interpretation and Definitions
The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions.
The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in
plural.
Collecting and Using Your Personal Data
Types of Data Collected
Photos Widget is designed with your privacy in mind. The App allows you to display photos
from Google Photos or your local device on your Android home screen widget. All photo data is stored
locally on your device — it is never uploaded to our servers.
The following data is handled by the App:
- Google Account Authentication: If you choose to use photos from Google Photos, the
App will request you to sign in with your Google account using OAuth 2.0. The App receives a temporary
access token to interact with the Google Photos Picker API. We never see, store, or have access to
your Google password.
- Google Photos: Photos you select through the Google Photos Picker are downloaded and
cached locally on your device for offline display. The App only accesses photos you explicitly select
— it does not browse or access your full Google Photos library.
- Local Photos: If you choose photos from your device's gallery, they are read and
stored locally by the App for display in the widget.
- Authentication Tokens: OAuth tokens required for Google Photos access are stored
securely on-device using Expo SecureStore (Android Keystore). These tokens are never sent to our
servers.
The App also relies on the following third-party services that may collect data:
- Google Photos Picker API: Used to allow you to select photos from your Google Photos
library. Requests are made directly to Google's servers and are governed by Google's Privacy
Policy.
- Google AdMob: Free users see advertisements powered by Google AdMob. AdMob may
collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads.
- RevenueCat: Used to manage in-app purchase subscriptions and entitlements. RevenueCat
may collect your device's anonymous purchase history to validate and restore premium status.
- Usage Data: Anonymous usage data and crash reports may be collected automatically by
third-party tools to help us improve the App's performance and stability.
Permissions Required by the App
To provide its functionality, Photos Widget requests the following permissions on your
device:
- Internet Access (INTERNET): Required to authenticate with Google, download photos
from Google Photos, serve advertisements via Google AdMob, and manage in-app purchases through
RevenueCat.
- Read/Write External Storage (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Used
to access local photos from your device gallery and to cache downloaded photos for offline widget
display.
- Wake Lock (WAKE_LOCK): Allows the App to keep the processor awake briefly to
complete background photo rotation tasks.
- Receive Boot Completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Required to restore the automatic
photo rotation service after your device is restarted.
- Foreground Service: The "Reliable Rotation" feature uses a foreground service with
a small notification to rotate widget photos at precise intervals, bypassing Android's battery
restrictions.
- Vibrate (VIBRATE): Used for haptic feedback during interactions within the App.
All selected photos, widget settings, and authentication tokens are stored locally on
your device. This data is never uploaded to our servers.
Google API Limited Use Disclosure
Photos Widget's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to
the Google API
Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- The App only uses Google account data to allow you to select and display photos from your Google
Photos library.
- The App does not transfer Google data to third parties except as necessary to provide the
functionality you requested (downloading your selected photos).
- The App does not use Google data for advertising or marketing purposes.
- Google authentication tokens are stored securely on-device and are not shared with any external
party.
Advertising
Photos Widget displays advertisements powered by Google AdMob for
free users. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers and collect certain data to serve personalized
or non-personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings.
Premium subscribers enjoy a completely ad-free experience.
Retention of Your Data
Because the Developer (Athanasso) does not collect personal data directly through the Photos Widget app,
we do not inherently store personal records. Your photos, widget configuration, and authentication tokens
reside entirely on your device. Any aggregated anonymous data and crash logs collected via third-party
services are retained only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes of monitoring and improving the
Service.
